An Evening with Mark Miodownik

On Thursday 6th March, Mark Miodownik, came to Merchant Taylors' School to speak to pupils, parents, OMTs and members of the local community.

The event in a packed Examination Hall, part of our series of author visits, coincided with World Book Day and the launch of the School's Science and Engineering week. Professor of Materials and Society at UCL, and scientist-in-residence at BBC2's Dara O'Briain's Science Club, Mark Miodownik delivered an intriguing, informative and highly entertaining lecture. From Velcro to self-mending concrete, he gave us an insight into our world and the stuff that makes it work.

Professor Miodownik was on hand to sign copies of his new book, Stuff Matters, which was included in the ticket price and promises to be a fascinating read.
