The Weight of Walking a Wheelchair

On Sunday 7th December, Merchant Taylors' and St. Helen's Phab team members walked a challenging 10 miles through London, each carrying the weight of a wheelchair (15kg) on their backs.

The walk started in Warwick Avenue where they walked along a long stretch of Regents Canal, all the way to Liverpool Street Station. Along the way they marvelled at the number of houseboats, Regent's Park, camels and tigers at ZSL London Zoo, even buying a spot of street food in Camden Market.

While the walk was a huge success, with everybody finishing with a massive sense of achievement, there were a few aching backs and legs on the days that followed.

So far, the team has raised over £500 for Phab week 2015 from the walk, which will help to provide valuable respite care for disabled teenagers.

You can donate any amount up to £10 for Phab Week 2015, by texting PHAB15 to 70070.
