OMT Plaque Marks the Refurbishment of the Great Hall

On Tuesday 11th November, Tony Wright, President of the OMT Society, Richard Brooman, Chairman of the OMT Society and Governor, and Gavin Brown, Former President and Chairman of the OMT Society, together with the Head Master, dedicated a plaque marking the refurbishments to the Great Hall.

Current Pupil, Lucas Gadson, designed the plaque, which was the subject of a design competition run by the Design and Technology department. Prototypes were made 'in house' and shown to Richard Brooman (who initiated the project) before a pattern of the final design was made by Richard Meyer at Precision Engraving and Profiling Ltd. His pattern was then taken to a local foundry to be cast in three parts from Bronze; the premature aging of the plaque was done using a process called patination.

The plaque says the following:

'The refurbishment of the Great Hall in 2013 was funded by the proceeds from the sale of the Old Merchant Taylors' War Memorial Sports Ground Durrants  in Croxley Green.'
