Worshipful Company Public Speaking
On Monday 21st March, Michael Wyeth and Selvan Senthilkumaran took part in the Worshipful Company Of Educators public speaking competition held in Gresham College. The competition saw 16 speakers discuss a wide range of topics. The judge’s panel consisted of three experts in the field of public speaking. Michael spoke under the title ‘Is social media a drug? ‘ and Selvan under the title ‘Education: the fundamental human right’. Selvan, one of the first to speak, gave a very convincing argument, well planned and back by solid research and real life examples of education being the fundamental human right. He spoke with conviction and passion as his speech reached a rousing climax. Michael faced the arduous task of following six other competitors on the topic of social media. It was his three-pronged attack that allowed him to explore the idea of social media in a way that had not been done by the other competitions - and so he was claim the overall prize, winning the competition. A huge congratulation must go to Michael for winning the competition and doing Merchant Taylors’ proud.
