Design and Engineering Networking Event
Design week began with the inaugural Design and Engineering event on Saturday 10th October 2015. This was an opportunity for OMTs, parents and current pupils to come and view the new Design Centre, whilst also providing a great chance to network and catch up with old friends. The event was extremely well attended, and everyone was extremely impressed with the new facilities the School now has to offer.
Mike Stephenson and his team had put on several different displays for the guests to look at and see the new machines in action. Everyone was particularly impressed with the 3D printers, and the skills which current Taylors’ boys will be able to learn and utilise.
The Head Master spoke about how Taylors’ has the largest number of Arkwright Scholars’ in the country and the importance of keeping links with OMTs and parents for current pupil’s career progression. He explained how it was the fourth sector specific event, and that we were delighted to add it to the City, Arts and Creative, and the Medics events, which are already up and running. That although it was officially to opened on the 12th November, they were some of the first people to have a look around and a sense of what the facilities have to offer. The Head Master went on to explain that the building could not have happened without the generous donation from Dudley and Geoffrey Cox Charitable Trust.
