Afternoon Tea 2016
On Friday 18th March 2016, the Development and Alumni Relations Office welcomed over 120 OMTs who left the School before 1971 and their guests to Afternoon Tea in the Great Hall. Prior to tea, tours of the School were led by current members of the Sixth Form. Some of the guests had not been back to Taylors’ since they left, so were able to see the many changes made in the intervening years, as well as visiting old classrooms and haunts.
The Afternoon Tea itself was very good, with many compliments paid to the School’s catering team. Whilst the guests helped themselves to sandwiches, cakes and scones, the Head Master spoke about the School’s wish to reconnect with its alumni, and to provide opportunities for lasting fellowship, through social gatherings such as Afternoon Tea and the upcoming Manor Reunion in May.
Our guests were then treated to some performances from the pupils. Two Divisions pupils, Isaac Bettridge and Max Kendix, performed a duologue from February's competition. Their performance of Mitchell & Webb’s ‘The Conspiracy Theories’ was very well received. The Thomas White Singers then sung three songs they had been preparing this term in honour of the event: Tea for Two, The Goslings and The Teddy Bears’ Picnic, which all went down a treat!
It was great to see so many Old Boys back at School, and we hope that the event will be as successful in the future.
