The Lower School are delighted to take you on a journey through some of Shakespeare’s most loved plays. Merchant Taylors' School enjoys an ongoing connection with the Bard as two OMTs, Thomas Jenkins and John Cottam taught Shakespeare in the 1570s and 80s. A formative influence on Jenkins and Cottam is very likely to have been Richard Mulcaster's system of teaching that recommended learning through drama, especially through acting. Jenkins and Cottam taught others in the way they themselves were taught, with acting and performance at the heart of learning. The boys are immersing themselves in the language of Shakespeare and look forward to sharing their performance with you.
Tickets are limited to two per family for the parents of cast and crew. There is no charge for the tickets but, when you register, there is an opportunity to make an entirely voluntary donation to the school's Art Fund. Donations to this fund will support Drama Production at Merchant Taylors' School, contributing to the set, props, costumes and accessories. Thank you for considering making a donation.
Credit card charges are no longer levied on payments to the school. Instead, the service provider includes an option at the end of the form to leave a voluntary donation towards the card charges. However, please note that you are under no obligation to pay the charge — the school does not benefit from this — so paying the charge is entirely at your discretion.
