CCF Inspection Day and Leavers' Dinner

We were delighted to welcome Commodore Jeremy Rigby RN ADC who was our Inspecting Officer for CCF Inspection Day on Friday 1st May. The MTS boys and St Helen’s girls were a credit to themselves and it was clear that a great deal of preparation had gone on beforehand. The rejuvenated CCF Band continued its resurgence, accompanying the Parade and there were the usual variety of additional activities such as rafting, sailing, shooting, team exercises and the traditional tug of war. The Drill Competition was won by the RAF, the Rafting and Shooting competitions by the Royal Navy, and the Tug of War was won by the Army section. The Tri-Section Cup for best performance on the day was won by the Royal Navy. Very well done to all who took part!

On the evening of Friday 1st May, Commodore Jeremy Rigby and other visiting Inspecting Officers were invited to attend the CCF Inaugural Leavers’ Dinner. This was an opportunity to celebrate the efforts of those members of staff and cadets to whom we say “Valete”, but also to introduce the U6th to the military tradition of the formal Mess Dinner. Food, wine, speeches (and a little horseplay) ensued and a great night was had by all. Thanks go to Dave Fayer and the Catering team who served up a delicious meal, most ably helped by a capable team of L6th cadets.
