Mencap Funday
On Sunday 4th October, we held the annual Mencap Funday where 30 guests of differing physical and mental difficulties joined us from Watford Mencap for the day. The Funday was run and organised entirely by a group of around 30 students from the Lower Sixth who offered our guests a variety of different activities to try out including swimming in the pool, lakeside motor boat rides and horse-riding off site.
Of particular delight to our guests from Mencap was our Sixth Formers' wearing silly items of fancy dress, which they shared around generously to allow everyone to get to know each other. This culminated in an impromptu karaoke and dance competition where guests and students alike strutted their stuff to the amusement of all, followed by everyone taking part in a large relay race and cheering though a prize-giving ceremony to conclude another brilliant day.
Thanks go to the boys for their tireless enthusiasm and the staff and helpers that gave up their Sunday to make this possible. It was lovely to witness so many guests leaving saying what a great day they had and were really thrilled to have made so many new friends, promising to come back next year!
