Lives Transformed - our bursary recipients share their stories

Since the school's founding in 1561, bursaries have been part of our ethos. They make a huge difference to the life of the school, but the impact on individuals' lives can sometimes be lost. To demonstrate what an impact a bursary can have on someone's life, in 2023 we began to speak to OMTs who have been the beneficiaries of our bursary programme. Through one-to-one interviews, these OMTs share their personal journeys, recounting how the support they received from the Merchant Taylors' community shaped of their lives. Each story is a testament to the enduring impact of philanthropy and education, highlighting the profound difference that a helping hand can have in unlocking the potential of talented individuals.

Don’t stop being aware of the impact you are having even if that doesn’t come through in the statistics or grades and awards. Think about the developmental and social impact you are having on someone like me.’
